Solihull Sole Sanctuary Reiki

What is Reiki

Reiki is an alternative therapy for the treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual diseases and was founded by Mikao Usui. Reiki is spiritual in nature but is not a religion. It can be used on its own or in conjunction with other complementary therapies.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Administered by "laying on hands" it is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and causes us to be alive. If our "life force energy" is low, we may be more susceptible to sickness or stress. During a Reiki session the practitioners hands will either touch or hover over the body of the recipient to deliver healing and balance the chakras.

Reiki treats the whole person including mind, body, emotions and spirit to provide a safe and natural form of spiritual healing to relieve the side effects of many illnesses and promote recovery.

Reiki isn't learnt. It is an ability passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master which allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy." It will work irrespective of whether the recipient believes in it or not.

Reiki provides a natural and unobtrusive complementary therapy to encourage the body's natural healing processes.  It has been used to help a number of conditions:

Aid relaxation
Relieve stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia
Chronic pain
Unblock energy/nerve pathways
Bowel issues
Feeling "out of sorts"
Cleanse the body of toxins
Revitalise energy/fatigue
Trauma

What to expect during your treatment

Treatments are carried out on a mssage bed in a quiet room for maximum relaxation. The head is held in my hands so too are the shoulders, arms and legs but during the rest of the treatment I hover over the body to transfer the Reiki energy. A response may or may not be felt. This will not affect the efficacy. A glass of water and a blanket are provided for your comfort. One session lasts approximately 40-50 minutes. However, please allow up to 1.5 hours for your initial session in order to complete a health questionnaire.
